Just in time for the holidays, over one thousand marines and sailors returned back to U.S. soil at Camp Lejeune Sunday morning.
The 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit received a hero's homecoming as scores of family members and friends celebrated their safe arrival. The unit left North Carolina in June and assisted with the evacuation of over 15,000 Americans in Lebanon during the battle between Israel and militant group, Hezbollah.
The 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit's commander says some marines will return to duty as early as this spring for another rotation in the Middle East.
