Kay Yow, the women's basketball coach at N-C State, has announced she'll take a leave of absence. Yow is battling breast cancer, and doctors recently found it was progressing. That means she'll have to undergo chemotherapy and targeted biologic therapies.
Associate head coach Stephanie Glance will serve as interim coach for an indefinite period during Yow's absence.
The 64-year-old Yow was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1987. It came back two years ago.
N-C State is three-and-one this season and plays Arizona on Friday and U-C Santa Barbara on Sunday.
