An update on the shooting in Jacksonville this week that left a cop hurt and a suspect dead: the suspect has been identified as Neil Howard Manson, a Marine at New River Air Station in Jacksonville.
The District Attorney says Manson was on anti-depressant medication and had just returned from a tour of duty in Iraq.
Monday, police responded to reports of a man holding a gun outside a residence on Croatan Court in Jacksonville. Authorities say Manson first agreed to lay down the gun, but then removed a second handgun from his jacket in a threatening manner to police officers. That's when he was shot.
The Onslow County District Attorney's office said Wednesday no criminal charges will be filed against anyone involved in the shooting.
The injured officer is expected to be okay.
