Last year more than 1100 people were killed on our highways. So far this year 1,023 people have been killed on the roads.
Sergeant Robert Bowen with the State Highway Patrol says last year during "Operation Slowdown," over 16,000 citations were issued, mostly for speeding.
Sergeant Bowen says he can't stress enough to you to slow down. Every five-and-a-half hours someone is killed on our state's highways.
