Officials from East Carolina University in Greenville announced a 2.5 million dollar gift from the late Frances and Robert Monk of Farmville, to fund a new geriatric center to be built on the medical campus. The new 12 thousand square foot center is designed to triple the number of patients treated, with services including Alzheimer's treatment. The head of the geriatric division at the Brody School of Medicine says the generous gift will fund the center's construction, which will begin in 2008. Officials say the new center will take five years to build.
