New Facility Being Built To Accommodate Cancer Patients

The Marion L. Shepard Cancer Center at the Beaufort County Hospital broke ground on a 1500 square foot addition. It will be home to radiation therapy services for the center's cancer patients. Medical Director Dr. Jennie Crews says patients in the eight-county area currently must travel to Greenville for treatment, which for most patients means making that trip five days a week. Greenville's Brody School of Medicine will provide physicians to the oncology addition, which is slated for completion by next fall.
