A downtown Kinston restaurant called The Chef and the Farmer relies on local produce and meat from local farmers: farmers who work with small plots and small herds and raise animals naturally without steroids or antibiotics.
Chef Vivian Howard says both she and the farms that supply her restaurant are focused on local and sustainable products.
Howard also says she will continue to use locally grown produce and meat when she opens up a deli next door to the restaurant on Gordon Street.
