Nearly 100 state forestry workers gathered in Onslow County Thursday for forest fire training. Forestry workers practiced new skills and fine tuned existing ones during a two-day training exercise in Hoffmann Forest, located near Jacksonville. Participants worked to navigate a scenario involving three separate fires. Tractors and planes are just some of tools participants used to work through the drill. This is the first time this drill has been conducted since 2001. Hurricanes and actual fires prevented workers from having time to participate.
