Duped Sailor Pleads GuiltyTo Vengeance Killing Of Marine

A sailor has pleaded guilty to killing a Marine corporal he had been duped into thinking had been involved in the rape of a woman.

Petty Officer Cooper Jackson pleaded guilty to four counts --
including premeditated murder and kidnapping -- in connection with
the slaying of Corporal Justin Huff. Both were students at the Navy
and Marine Corps Intelligence Training Center in Virginia Beach.
I
n exchange for his guilty plea, prosecutors agreed to spare him
a possible death sentence.

Jackson told a Navy judge during his court martial that he posed
as a special N-C-I-S agent and took Huff to North Carolina to get
information about the rape. He said he then killed Huff and buried
the body.

Federal agents testified at a hearing in June that Jackson had
been fooled into falling in love with a woman over the phone who
made up a story about being raped by several service members.

She turned out to be a hotel clerk on North Carolina's Outer
Banks.
