Rocky Mount Plane Crash Victims Identified

Two Wilson residents have been identified as the victims of Sunday's fatal airplane crash just south of downtown Rocky Mount.

Rocky Mount police say Jenny Lyndon and Thomas Lyndon died when the Cessna Skylane single-engine aircraft crashed just south of a rail yard. Their relationship and ages could not immediately be
confirmed.

Rocky Mount-Wilson Regional Airport officials say the plane made
two unsuccessful landing attempts, and the airport lost contact
with the airplane after the second attempt.

The Cessna crashed on train tracks in the C-S-X rail yard at
about 3:30 p-m. Fire division chief of operations David English
says traffic on the rail line, which is a major north-south traffic
route, was slowed as trains were rerouted to a side rail.

An F-A-A spokeswoman says the flight originated in Beaufort, South Carolina.
