Governor Says It's Not So

North Carolina went into the year with a more than two billion dollar budget surplus. But projections are the state is facing a more than billion dollar budget deficit in the coming fiscal year. Governor Mike Easley says not so. A general assembly fiscal researcher tells the Charlotte Business Journal a looming budget gap of over a billion dollars is a foregone conclusion. She'll prepare a formal estimate at the end of December.
