Mother Nature pitched into the help the authorities who are still battling a fire at an Apex chemical plant.
Around 17,000 people had to evacuate their homes Thursday night when a fire started at the EQ Industrial Services Incorporated warehouse. Right now, the cause of the fire is unknown, but the rain and wind certainly helped the firefighters cause.
Officials say the rain will help dissolve pollutants in the air. Also the winds moved southerly, to more rural areas, instead of to the north, which would have pushed the hazardous smoke cloud into Raleigh and Cary. So far 18 people have been hospitalized, most of which were emergency workers.
