Proposal To Cap Tuition Increases At UNC Campuses

There's a plan to cap tuition increases for the University of North Carolina's 16 campuses. The plan released Monday by system president Erskine Bowles would limit increases to six-point-five percent for each of the next four years.

The cap represents the university's average tuition increases over the past 34 years and is slightly higher than the five percent national index for inflation for higher education.

Members of the university system's Board of Governors will review the plan.
