Parole denied: That's the word from the parole commission in Raleigh on the man some call the most brutal killer in Onslow County history. Marcus Shrader was convicted of killing one woman and accused of killing three others in Jacksonville in 1974. Shrader was sentenced to death, until that changed to life in prison because of a U.S. Supreme Court decision in 1976. The victims' families and law officers from here in the East continue to fight to keep Shrader behind bars. This is the second year the commission has considered and denied Shrader's parole.
