Authorities say a 4-year-old child has died a day after being found injured in a mountain motel.
Jackson County deputies said the child died Saturday. The child was found by authorities responding to a 911 call Friday at Qualla Motel in Whittier.
Deputies arrested 23-year-old Eric Davis and charged him with child abuse inflicting serious bodily injury. He is being held in jail on a $1 million bond, and authorities plan to review autopsy results on the child and other evidence before deciding whether Davis should face more charges.
Investigators haven't released the child's name or detailed what kind of injuries were suffered.
