Greenville pharmaceutical development company Metrics Inc. will expand its facility in Pitt County creating 77 jobs and investing $17,500,000 over the next three years. Governor Mike Easley was in Greenville Monday for the announcement. He says the expansion was made possible in part by a $150,000 One North Carolina Fund grant. The governor says, "This further strengthens our state's nationally-recognized biotech and life sciences industry, which Ernst & Young has ranked No. 3 in the nation for the past three years in a row." Metrics Inc. will add 47,000 square-feet and 77 jobs to its pharmaceutical testing and manufacturing plant bringing its total employment at the facility to 250 workers. The average weekly wage for the new jobs will be about $1,000 plus benefits, which is almost double the Pitt County average wage of $515 per week not including benefits.
