Helping to Heal

That's how Williamston Police Chief Steve Smith describes the mood of New York City police officers and firefighters in the weeks following the attacks on the World Trade Center. Smith along with Williamston
firefighter Mike Stalls are trained crisis counselors and spent over a week at Ground Zero just weeks after the attacks speaking to any officer who needed a sympathetic ear. Both Smith and Stalls are still in contact with police officers and firefighters they counseled.
