Songs, prayer and reflection were all part of a memorial service in Kinston. It was part of the dedication of a new 9/11 Emergency Services Memorial that was just finished at the Neuseway Park in Kinston. The new memorial is shaped like the Pentagon, with fields all around to represent Shanksville, Pennsylvania, as well as two waterfalls to depict the twin towers.
The Martin County town of Williamston paused Monday morning to remember those who lost their lives on 9/11. Williamston fire fighters, police officers, community leaders and citizens came together around 9:30. Even though New York City is a long way from Eastern Carolina, first responders describe the profession of fire fighting and law enforcement as a brotherhood. This is the first time Williamston has held a 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony.
