Two Camp Lejeune Marines have been charged with in connection with killing a horse in Onslow County.

Micah Joslyn of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Joel Montao of Hubert are facing charges of cruelty to animals, conspiracy, and discharging a weapon within 500 feet of a residence.

In November, Elizabeth Kachmore told WITN that her horse "Alderbaran" suddenly became ill. The seven year old was taken to the N.C. State Veterinarian Hospital in Raleigh where they discovered the horse had been shot with a small caliber firearm. Vets were unable to save the horse.

Onslow County detectives say recovery of the weapon led to the arrests of the two Marines.

Bond was set at $25,000 and the two were turned over to their military command.

Before blasting so-called "heroes" as idiots or as "oh so proud" marines" why don't you give them the same courtesy that you would expect if you were in their position.

Another high mark for our so-called "heroes". Watch these two idiots claim the lame PTSD defense and that the horse was actually two Iraqis in disguise.

It is so sad that humans have stooped to the bowels of hell and choose to mistreat defenseless animals. There are three such cases mentioned on this site since yesterday. The serial killer to be, maniac beating his dog in front of a school bus and these "oh so proud" marines. It is just pathetic. As a horse lover/parent, cat and dog parent, I feel the pain of this loss. We are so fortunate to have the wonderful NCSU Equine Vets close by and from my own personal experience, they treat your animals literally like your human family members. I have no doubt they did everything humanly possible to save Alderbaran. I truly believe he is now in that heavenly green pasture up above where no bullets will ever fly. RIP majestic creature. Elizabeth, I hope you will find some comfort in knowing that justice will be obtained and that Alderbaran knew you loved him/her. He/She was gorgeous. I am sorry that your time with him/her was shortened.

It is clowns and morons such as these two that give law abiding gun owners a bad name with the general public.

I would hope that Kachmore pursues civil litigations as well. I'm sure the horse was very expense, not to mention the care tendered at NCSU vet school.
