A bomb blows up releasing a toxic gas that's threatening the lives of thousands of people in Eastern Carolina. It's wasn't real, but a mock disaster exercise involving six counties here in the east. The exercise is designed to improve response by emergency officials to these kinds of disasters. Wednesday's drill at the Washington County Emergency Center tested shelters, communication systems, trauma centers, hospitals, and evacuation plans. The functional exercise also simulates a 72 hour period immediately following the chemical attack.
