After three days of testimony, it didn't take the jury long to reach its decision in the budget battle between the Beaufort County Commissioners and the Beaufort County School Board. It took the jury about two and a half hours to award the school system about $766,000. When the trial began the school system was seeking $2,900,000 in addition to the $9,400,000 the commissioners have already appropriated. Even though the jury award is significantly less than they were seeking, the school system says they're satisfied with that amount. The commissioners are scheduled to meet Friday to discuss the case.
