The beach is one of the most popular ways to beat the extreme heat we're dealing with and beaches along the Crystal Coast were packed Tuesday.
Temperatures felt like 95 degrees when you factored in the heat index, but that didn't stop people from flocking to the sand and surf on Atlantic Beach. And all those people came prepared. We saw tons of coolers stocked with water and sports drinks, and folks sitting under umbrellas and wearing hats to keep cool.
Lifeguards suggest the best way to stay safe in the heat is to limit total exposure time, wear a hat and sun block and drink plenty of water.
