Almost a week after Tropical Storm Alberto washed over Eastern Carolina, communities along the Tar River are still feeling the storms effects. A mobile home park off Old River Road in Pitt County started to flood this past weekend as the level of the Tar River began to rise. Currently, the river is just over 17 feet and is expected to crest at 19 feet early Wednesday. Right now no homes in the mobile home park are damaged, but one of the roads in the park is covered with about three feet of water, making the road virtually impassable without a high vehicle. Many of the residents that live in the area tell us they're keeping a close eye on the water level and plan to leave if it gets much higher.
