The sponsor of Elizabeth Edwards' speaking engagement in Detroit this week says Edwards has canceled her apperance to care for her mother.

Metro Parent magazine said Edwards canceled the engagement
scheduled for Wednesday.

It also said in a news release that Edwards has canceled all her October engagements to care for her gravely ill mother.

A representative at Edwards' speaker agency, the Harry Walker Agency in New York City, did not return messages Sunday seeking comment.

The magazine said the tickets would be honored for a new date, expected to be announced within two weeks. Edwards has incurable breast cancer.

She recently began speaking publicly following the revelation this summer that her husband, former Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards, had an extramarital affair.

This Lady should hold her head high, smile and just care for her Mother. She's an Attorney so she knows she don't have to work anywhere. That Slum Husband should toil for her fortune daily from an office in the center of Central Prison, Male only Department. I have no patience with an adulterer.

It speaks of her character. Strong, resilient, and unrelenting, yet, compassionate all at the same time. I commend her for her actions.

You know it has to be tough on this lady to even speak in public after what the Breck Girl did to her WHILE she was battling cancer. Bless her heart....
