McCain Calls Obama A Liar Save Email Print

Republican John McCain is calling Democratic rival Barack Obama a liar.

The GOP presidential candidate told a campaign rally: "Sen. Obama has accused me of opposing regulation to avert this crisis. I guess he believes if a lie is big enough and repeated often enough it will be believed."

In some of the harshest language yet, McCain said the campaign comes down to a simple question: Who is the real Barack Obama?

McCain drew the loudest cheers when he said the Democrat has written two memoirs but "he's not exactly an open book."

Trailing in the polls, McCain and his advisers say they will hammer that theme as the campaign heads toward the Nov. 4 election.

95% of all abortions are for birth control. Only 5% of all abortions are due to rape, incest, medical health of the mother, birth defect, etc. So the majority of the time it is just murder.

WITN How did you let a comment such as the one from the idiot named Lavon get by?The Black Cherry koolaid will probably be watered down much like Obama.

I never comment on these posts but I just wanted to say this. First off let me say that I am GOD-fearing young woman. But I am getting tired of hearing that Obama is not pro-life. In reality, it doesn't matter how we feel about abortions, women have been doing it for years and are going to continue to do it. Don't misunderstand, I'm not a supporter of abortion, however in extreme cases, I could possibly understand. If I had a daughter and God forbids she was brutally raped and assaulted and as a result ended up pregnant, I wouldn't push abortion on her, but @ the same time, I wouldn't encourage her to keep the baby. It's bad enough she'd have to deal with the memories of being raped, but she has to carry a child around that thus reminds her everyday of it. I just wouldn't do that to her. Or what if a girl was molested by her father and ended up pregnant as a result? What would you suppose she do? I'm not about all the bickering back and forth, but this is just some food for thought.

Lavon, I answered your question, but it got dumped. Editor, the truth will set you free.

I don't know about anyone else but I'll be glad when this thing is over. I tell you Obama doesn't impress me not one bit. How can our country support someone that is not pro life. And how can they support someone that openly pokes fun of God's word the Holy Bible. This country was founded by men and women that believed in and feared God. What has become of this nation. I fully support McCain and Palin. A wonderful team- a true patriot that is true to his country. And a God fearing woman that believes in the Lord Jesus Christ the one that gives us our next breath. I to say Obama read my lipstick. LOL

Why not take all of this mess off the web page. People are going to vote for the person they want to, not because of race. If you can't live down here in peace and harmony you certainly will not be able to live up there. Up there with my Lord and your Lord there will be no seperation. Only God will do the seperating.

Why is is when you look at republican campaign rallys that you only see white people. I can count on my first few fingere the number of other ethnicities that are at these rallys. If you look at Obama's campaign rallys you will see a broad range of ethnicities. I mean just looking at Mccain rallys just tells me that this is not a true representation of america.

NObama - while I agree with the point you were trying to make, there is no way that Obama and Sarah have about the same amount of experience. She has actually held jobs, run a small business, a small town (btw, her home town which says something that the people who have known her all of her life elected her so they must trust her), served on the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, and was Governor of our nation's largest state. She has more executive experience in her little finger than Obama has in his "acorn". And I just want to point out to the elitist who mocked her college education. She attended different schools because she didn't have the benefit of affirmitive action or government grants to pay for an Ivy league education. She worked her way through college like many of us did. She then took that education and put it to use in actual jobs, again unlike Obama. So she also has more real world experience in her little finger than Obama has in his acorn.

I agree with VBush, seems a lot of liberals have cited the "party" rehetoric they have been brainwashed with so, without further adue here is you theme song; Sing it all together now; Kool-aid, Kool-aid, tastes great, wish I had some, can't wait. Now boys and girls, don't we all feel good now? Yall have a nice day and "do your homework" You get an F today for blaming the mortgage bailout on Republicans and Bush.

Posted by: Sally Location: Washington on Oct 9, 2008 at 11:06 AM
Danny, You have tried to make the show the Obama people the true story if they vote for him but as you see they are not smart enough to get it. They truly are not educated enough to understand. If they do vote for Obama and he wins, they will see alot of change and they will not like it. Just like VBush said, Ignorance is going to the polls in record numbers this year. I really feel sorry for them.

Posted by: NObama!! Location: Greenville on Oct 9, 2008 at 10:48 AM
Tramp!! If you think Sara is unqualified for VP, then NObama is def. not qualified for President. They have about the same amout of notable experience...

Posted by: VBush Location: MHCY on Oct 9, 2008 at 09:57 AM
Del; If you were half as 'educated' as you think you are, you would do your homework and follow our current economic situation all the way to it's beginnings, follow the events that perpetuated the situation and who the key players are along the way....then you would see that it is your party that created this freakin' mess...that's right .......Democrats! So before you start spouting off about EDUCATION, do two things.....1. Your home work 2. Learn to spell. Let me guess editor, you are going to dump this?

Posted by: VBush Location: MHCY on Oct 9, 2008 at 09:48 AM
Danny; Did you notice the response to your post by 'yes we can'? They just don't get it. That is what I love about these mindless kool-aide drinking followers. They don't even have enough BASIC understanding of economics to see how it works. I guess he/she thinks that Obama is going to buy all the yachts so you can keep your job. Of course he/she doesn't understand that if he actually were to do that he would be doing it with OUR tax money, so he would need more of it. Ignorance is going to the polls in record numbers this year.

Posted by: Danny Location: Washington on Oct 9, 2008 at 07:45 AM
Does anyone understand Tramp's second sentence??????? Mamma for Obama, that contestant was for Ms. South Carolina. It seems to me that nearly every person voting for Obama on this message board either has their facts wrong, or very bad grammar. Oh and "Yes we Can" said people will not stop buying yachts because of a tax increase. Well it is well proven that they buy more when their taxes are cut. So wouldn't that mean they buy less when taxes are raised? How do you not understand that when these rich people have more money, they spend more money?

Posted by: mamma for obama on Oct 9, 2008 at 05:33 AM
funny tramp, i just thought of the contestant for Ms. NC..that tried to answer the question stammering and showed how ignorant and nervous she was. A little information and no substance. Palin is giving everyone a laugh around the world. Having McCain/Palin will NOT help foreign relations. Bush and Cheney have ruined all of that. The nerve when Bush even opens his mouth now...he should have LIAR stamped on his head...and McCain agrees with him on most issues. THis is sad. All the idiots that vote for palin because she totes a gun, shoots wolves from a plane, and is in office....are fools. Your have one more day today to change your registration and party affiliation....Vote early for Obama/Biden

Posted by: tramp Location: paris on Oct 9, 2008 at 01:14 AM
Sarah should go to a couple more schools. It took har 5, two twice. She must have got caught cheating. They won't release any info. She was mayor of a town of 5000 (in Alaska),gov one & a half years. She doesn't know what papers she reads(none) and you want her for VP.You are as stupid as she is.There are at least a million women more qualified and you run behind her like she has an answer.Other countries think we are a joke and it is very embarassing.Stop the bleeding. She couldn't pick out Iraq or Iran on a map right now.

Posted by: Yes We Can! on Oct 9, 2008 at 12:05 AM
Yeah, people are going to stop buying yachts because of a tax increase. If you had a job making yachts in the 90's, you'll still have a job under Obama's plan. The tax rate won't be any higher for these people than it was then.

Posted by: Danny Location: Washington on Oct 8, 2008 at 11:29 PM
WOW!!!!! This is a response to Del located in Planet Earth. It seems to me that if you are going to talk about our poor education in EASTERN CAROLINA, you would at least spell Eastern the proper way. In your first sentence you spell it----EASTER----. You go on to say ----"To me it seems that ----Eatern---- -----Notrth---- Carolina will vote Republican" How again do you spell Eastern is it Easter as in your first sentence, or Eatern as you spell it later in your uneducated rant? Oh and in Eastern North Carolina we still spell North N-O-R-T-H. Not Notrth as you wrote. Democrats have had control of Congress for the past two years. Did Barney Frank (who is a Democrat in charge of Fannie May and Freddie Mac) do anything about all the bad debt they were taking on, or did he say that they were in good shape moving forward? What can you say about my previous post about Obama's tax cut? Learn how to spell, or at least use spell check before you call someone uneducated.

Posted by: Del Location: Planet Earth on Oct 8, 2008 at 10:08 PM
It really is refreshing to see the lack of quality education in Easter Carolina is being put to good use by readers of this site. The reublicans are responsible for the mess the economy and military is in right now ,yet people on here are too blind to realise it.THEY SIT AND MOAN ABOUT NO MONEY, HIGH GAS PRICES yet blame the party that has not been in power. They complain about a bail out for wall street wondering why the CEO's who got us into this mess should be rewarded, yet in the same breath they are willing to allow McCain to be rewarded with the most important job in the land.To me it seems that Eatern Notrth Carolina will vote Republican no matter how many jobs go over seas, how many of their sons or daughters die in Iraq and no matter how high the cost of gas goes, nor how low the level of education sinks.God bless America where people no matter how stupid they are still are entitled to vote.

When will the American people wake up and see Obama for who is really is. He's a radical with radical ideas and terriost associates. If he gets elected, God help us all! If you think your freedom's are being taken from you now..see what happens if he's in office. The really sad thing...if he doesn't get elected, it will be blamed on racism only.

Posted by: VBush Location: MHCY on Oct 8, 2008 at 07:56 PM
Danny; Exactly! You have nailed it and made it simple at the same time for all these Obama nuts. I still have my doubts that they can grasp the concept much in the same way they don't understand why raising the minimum wage is also a bad idea. I am not even going to attempt that explanation. (They wouldn't get it anyway). When everything goes to h*ll in a hand basket maybe they will get it then, but I still doubt it.

Posted by: Danny Location: Washingtaon on Oct 8, 2008 at 07:28 PM
Okay, here is what Obama's tax cut will do. If he raises taxes on people who make over 250,000 a year, many people will lose their job. For example, I along with many of my friends work at Hatteras Yachts. The people who buy Yachts are the same ones who make over $250,000 a year (most over $5 million). If Obama raises their taxes, they stop buying Yachts (along with expensive cars, fork lifts, nice homes, high end electronics, high end appliances, etc) and I along with many others lose my job, so what good does a tax cut do if I can't even work. As much as I hate to say, rich people buying stuff is what gives us average folks our jobs. It is simple trickle down economics. For this reason along with the fact that I think McCain will do a much better job handling Iran, Russia, Iraq, etc... is why I am voting for McCain.

Posted by: ??? Location: NC on Oct 8, 2008 at 06:17 PM
To all the doubters, just go online amd look back at Obamas voting record and you yourself will see that all he has done is lie. What time he hasnt had Ray Shockey lying for him.

When the truth hurts a person will yell out like a dog when you step on his tail. If Senator Obama wasn't telling the truth McCain would not have been so furious. McCain should get real and face the music.

Posted by: Dee Location: WayCo on Oct 8, 2008 at 04:54 PM
Much to my disappointment, Obama will probably win this racially geared, history making election. But look at it this way Repubs... it'll only be 4 years b/c there is NO WAY he will get re-elected after he shows his true colors (no pun intented). You liberals keep talking about how McCain will "say anything to get elected". Well, so will Obama. Look how many times he has "changed" his views. If that's the kind of CHANGE he's talking about, NO THANKS! MCCAIN/PALIN 08!!!

With the exception of Ronald Reagan, I have found myself always forced to vote the 'lesser of two evils'. My party has put up one feckless choice after another ever since Reagan. Did they have some good points? Yes. They were also in my mind, better than what the left has had to offer us. Personally I am sick and tired of voting for the 'lesser of two evils'. I would like to go to the polls one more time and vote for someone that I actually want to be the President. That isn't going to happen this year...I will be voting damage control as usual. Obama is a socialist liberal and McCain? Who knows? He moves around so much, I don't think anyone really knows where he stands. With his comments last night about buying up bad mortgages had me thinking he has been raiding Obama's kool-aide supply. Maybe the Libertarians can mount a formidable run in 2012. So far they haven't made a strong showing except getting on the ballot.

Posted by: What is the lesser of two evils? Location: Aulander on Oct 8, 2008 at 11:35 AM
You always hear people saying that if you don't like the way the country is being run, then get out and vote for the candidate of your choice. But who is the lesser of two evils? Neither candidate is sending out clear messages of how the economy will be changed once one of them gets into office. You will hear a bunch of half-truths and a lot of mud slinging, but this country needs to pull together and help with good opinions on how to help the leaders of your choice make some firm decisions that will truly help this sagging economy, health care, foreign policies, and energy issues. There are a lot of round table disscussions that need to be offered to help the candidates adopt laws that will be enforced once the presidency is changed to a new leader in the November election. So think to yourself, who is the less of the two evils? Who will really stand up for the American people and help the lower class citizens be able to pay their bills?

The only income the government has is tax money. Screw them, they need to work for it and stay out of my pockets. If the Democrats hadn't tried to finance everyone out there we wouldn't be in this mess! A vote for Obama is a vote for Socialism.

If people would have perused the internet and researched business channels, they would have seen this coming last November. ACORN just got raided in Las Vegas; but nothing on the LIBERAL news channels. That group started this freefall. When a person buys a home for $200,000 at zero money down, then add homeowners insurance plus taxes ,you have a substantial house payment. Then throw in your car and credit card debts, onto your equity line, you now have a $260,000 debt against you mortgage. To break even you have to sell the home for about $280,000. That is not going to happen folks. Prior Planning Prevents Pixx Poor Performance. Thankfully, I have a degree in Business, with minors in Economics and Political Science. I take care of my own finances!!

Jamie: McCain did lose two Navy aircraft while piloting them, both due to engine failure. A third was destroyed on the deck of the carrier USS Forrestal when a missile fired accidentally from another plane hit either the plane next to McCain's or, less likely, his own aircraft, triggering a disastrous fire that killed 134 sailors and nearly killed McCain. A fourth plane was lost when he was shot down over North Vietnam on a bombing mission over Hanoi. There's no evidence that any of the four destroyed planes were lost to pilot error. A fifth alleged "crash" turns out to be a misinterpretation of a flight accident that did not result in the loss of the aircraft. McCain admitted to causing that incident through "daredevil clowning" but returned safely. More about that later.

Posted by: Bear Location: Greenville on Oct 7, 2008 at 03:20 PM
Right, Devil Dog. There will be no hearings on any entities...Acorn, Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae, etc. until after the election, if then. The Democratically controlled Congress will nix any negative exposure to their man. Why normal folks can't see through this is beyond me. What I would like for someone to investigate is the racial breakdown of the 5% of mortgage owners who received those "special loans" who are "failing". Now, before some of you want to start spouting and spewing that that is a racist remark, if it can be proven a democratically approved move granted unfair advantages to a particular race, one that traditionally votes for them, while other races had to pay higher rates and provide downpayments..... discrimination plain and simple. An attempt to buy votes, at the expense of the country. It wasn't George Bush, rather Barney Frank and the other liberals who have brought this country down. They will win at any cost even to the demise of our proven American values.

Red State; Have you noticed that there are out right violations of the rules posted by some of our more liberal leaning piers, but we on the more conservative side get warned or dropped for the most minor infraction? I see it quite often, which causes me to get very creative with the verbiage (good mind exercise), but when I am forced to do that I am also aware that the person it was directed at probably isn't even aware. Your post to Obama 4 Prez isn't even mildly abrasive yet you get 'warned'. I don't think all of the editors @ WITN are playing this way, but there are a few. I think they need a round table discussion on how to apply the rules evenly and not let their personal feelings enter into it.

Just a thought isn't it great to live in America where everyone has the right to vote. And everyone is entitled to their own opinions and beliefs. God Bless America and the Election.

Hey Republicans, pay no attention to the Obama supporters here in NC, especially Eastern NC. Let them mouth off and say what they want. It will do them no good here. Obama very well may win the election, but it won't be because of North Carolina. So don't worry, their few votes for Obama means nothing here in N.C.

To Phil...Right on target. At least McCain said he would have Republicans,Democrats, and Independents in his Cabinet. Instead of spending time investigating MLB steroids, Henry "Bozo" WAXMAN (D) should have been investigating Barney "sweet cheeks" FRANK(D). You better hope the Dems lose seats in the House and Senate or we will have SOCIALISM full bore. There will be NO tax cuts. AIG failed, and almost all the others, because Harry "airhead" REID told the news media, a day before, that "A large insurance firm was going to fail". People then panicked and withdrew their shares. CONGRESS is just as guilty as the nitwits who applied for mortgaees when they knew they couldn't afford them.

What a choice we have as Americans. Two increadibly rich political parties. Both accuse the other of whats wrong in the world, and neither take blame for anything. This whole system is pathetic.

Posted by: Phil Location: North Carolina on Oct 7, 2008 at 12:03 PM
We voted for a "change" two years ago and were promised by Democrats that they would make things better for the "Country". They have not done anything... and watched as the economy went south. As usual, there has be great "Partisan" retoric, and staged-for-media hipe. But we, the people, neither party watching out for us. Neither party does what the say they will do, and both parties refuse to do anything together. No wonder NBC & ABC news says the American People are worried and lack confidence.

All of these Obama supporters don't understand economics. He is going to give tax breaks to people that don't even pay taxes...basically giving them a welfare check at the expense of others. How can taking money from the person that gives jobs to people be a good economic plan. Would you rather have this "tax break" that will give you $1000 dollars a year or actually have a job. You can't tax the job makes more and expect them to hire more people. It just doesn't make sense.

When you keep giving people money, for making bad decisions, and doing nothing productive;they keep doing nothing productive and keep on making bad decisions. For those who criticize the wealthy. They are the ones who put the "birdseed" in the "feeders". You don't become successful if you think you can learn through "OSMOSIS". Many people think PAVLOV's theory of conditioned reflex is gospel!

Posted by: Jamie Location: Jacksonville on Oct 7, 2008 at 11:07 AM
Actually he was a community organizer, helping people who had lost their jobs when factories closed. He had much better paying jobs offered to him, but chose to help people. Wow, how selfish, I see your point. I respect McCain's service, but honestly, he crashed 5 planes before the 6th in Vietnam. His reckless ways cost our gov't billions of dollars. Too many focus on his service, but not that fact that he voted against more funding for veteran programs, like the improved GI bill.

Posted by: ?? Location: NC on Oct 7, 2008 at 10:47 AM
Hey Jamie, at least McCain is taking care of his family with those houses. Your candidate has a brother who lives in a hut and lives on less than $20.00 a month. As far as his cars...who cares!! The man deserves whatever he can afford! He fought and suffered for this country. What has Obama done? Oh yeah, he organized rallies! :0

I hope that all you liberals will shut up after you get what you want and this inexperienced, lying, racist church attending, "funny looking" (he said it, not me), person gets elected and shows you exactly WHO is getting taxed! How can he only tax higher incomes and give more to the poor? Anyone ever heard of "unearned income" when tax season comes around? Stop all this illegal immigration and you will stop a BIG part of our problem. As a taxpayer and legal citizen, I can't afford health insurance. But let any aliens come over here and they get it for free. They have babies, go to the Dr, get food stamps and WIC and they don't have to pay for anything. You liberals think he is going to fix this?! Oh, that is right, you don't care about our borders and who get's in!!! God help this country!

Well said Mark from Raleigh! Why doesn't anyone point these things out? It's so obvious that McCain doesn't care about the middle class. He surely can't relate to our day to day problems with 10 houses and 13 cars. He is clueless regarding the economy and he should NEVER accuse someone else of lying. It seems to be all he does these days. I guess that is what desperation does to a person.

The group called ACORN, that was funded by and supported by OBAMA, used scare tactics on banks, to force them to lend to people who couldn't qualify for loans. After the banks said enough is enough, they put pressure on the lobbyists at FANNIE/MAE AND FREDDY/MAC to strongarm CONGRESS to support their initiatives. Similar to Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton intimidating corporations,ACORN intimidated the financial system. I bet CONGRESS won't have hearings on this until after the election, if at all. Wake up AMERICA. Check out the facts.

Not all republicans make $250k annual but Obama will tax those that do and in this world those are the people that own the businesses and companies that provide jobs. Let Obama tax those that provide the stimulus to our economy and watch what happens next. Here is some insight. Those people/companies cut back and downsize to offset the tax burden imposed on them by laying off employees and cutting benefits. Who actually gets hurt in this trickle down is the lower and middle class worker.

Obama will do one thing as President and that's increase taxes on those who already pay the majority of the taxes in this country. Go after big bad corporate America, the business owners and the people that drive the economy who will streamline to offset the tax burden and middle class will lose jobs. Think times are tough now. Well, the Dems will expand their government programs to assist those suffering and pay for it with taxpayer dollars from those still working hard and blame it all on the previous administration. The change he promotes is what you'll have in your pocket after taxes.

McCain's top lobbyist Phil Gramm was the one who orchestrated the repeal of depression-era Glass-Steagall Act (a separation of investment and commercial banks that might have saved us from this fiasco), making himself millions. Gramm will be the first on-board McCain's cabinet as a "Treasury Secretary". Republicans are busy looting this country while pretending to care about the little guy, and mentally unstable McCain is the most cynical hypocrite of all. If he calls someone a liar, it certainly takes one to know one in this case.
