Eastern Carolina waterways will be flooded with boaters this holiday weekend.
The U.S. Coast Guard is working to get the word out about safety, a timely topic since it is also National Safe Boating Week. A Coast Guard vessel is now docked at the waterfront in Washington so its crew can demonstrate safe boating firsthand and educate the public about boating laws in North Carolina.
The Coast Guard would like to remind people the legal blood alcohol level for operating a boat is .08, just like it is for a vehicle.
