They're not chasing after criminals, but instead running for a cause. Wednesday, one of many legs of the 2006 Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run made its way through Eastern Carolina and the state. Marines from Cherry Point hit the pavement to run for awareness and to encourage you to donate to Special Olympics. Wednesday's run started in Morehead City and ended in New Bern down Highway 70... A run the Marine's say is well worth the effort. More than 4000 law enforcement officers are participating. The flame will be relayed to Raleigh for the opening ceremony of the North Carolina Special Olympics games on June 2nd.
