More Pay For Teachers?

North Carolina doesn't seem to be making the grade when it comes to education. School systems across the state are looking for ways to attract teachers to struggling schools and unpopular subject areas.

Some school districts believe financial incentives could be the answer. Guilford County school's superintendent wants to pay teachers as much as 14,000 dollars extra to teach algebra in certain school districts. In other parts of the state, the UNC system is also considering paying math teachers more to teach in struggling schools as a pilot program. However, lawmakers have to approve the program before it can begin.
