A local United Way will be receiving a huge donation to support its childhood hunger program Thursday.
The Walmart Foundation to Reduce Childhood Hunger will present the United Way of Onslow County in Jacksonville with a $35,000 check to support the organization's program CHEW.
CHEW, or Children Healthy Eating On Weekends, aims to reduce childhood hunger by providing backpacks of meals for children who could otherwise go hungry.
This will be the largest private donation the Onslow County United Way has received before.
The check will be presented 10 a.m. Thursday at the United Way of Onslow County in Jacksonville.
