Wayne County authorities have been dealing with several methamphetamine cases in the last few days and for now, there is no connection. Wednesday, the sheriff's department arrested 21-year-old Carlos Eduardo Torres of Mount Olive for possession with the intent to sell and deliver methamphetamine. In a second case the same day, authorities discovered a meth lab in an abandoned house just yards from the home of Torres.
At this point, no one has been charged involving the lab. In a third case, Department of Corrections officers working a clean up detail on Genoa Road discovered part of another meth lab hidden in a nearby ditch. Authorities are warning residence to call the sheriff's department immediately before handling anything suspicious due to the hazardous nature of meth making materials.
