New Chronic Pain Treatment Uses Light

It’s offering relief from pain and numbness, not through pills or injections, but just with simple light. Pitt County Memorial Hospital is using infrared therapy for many of its patients suffering from chronic pain due to conditions like diabetes, arthritis to wound care. The idea is simple. The infrared light changes the body's cells at the molecular level, which is what increases circulation and gets rid of the pain. Even the treatment is pain free. Pitt County Memorial Hospital is one of only 20 hospitals in the state offering this type of therapy, although you have to have a doctor's referral to undergo the infrared treatment.
