The Cape Hatteras lighthouse opened for climbing this week, but you better get there early if you plan on scaling the beacon. Due to staffing complications, the Nation's tallest lighthouse will only be open from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. daily, for now. Also, the park service is taking public comment on possible fee increases at the lighthouse and
coastal campgrounds; that could take effect next year. The agency states they're trying to keep their prices on par with local businesses. You can mail your comments to the National Park Service headquarters at Fort Raleigh on Roanoke Island.
