Five hundred children and over 100 parents took to the streets of downtown Washington Wednesday to celebrate the Week of the Young Child.
Many child care organizations were represented in the parade that made its way from the Civic Center to the downtown waterfront.
The Beaufort Hyde Partnership for Children also used this week to highlight literacy for children.
Volunteers went out to child care centers across Beaufort County to read at least two books to classrooms filled with preschoolers.
Thursday is parent appreciation day. And Friday is child appreciation day, when child care facilities will be asked to do something special for the kids, like an ice cream party.
