An abandoned house in Chocowinity in Beaufort County mysteriously caught fire Monday morning, torching an acre and a half of trees because of the dry conditions. The Chocowinity Fire Department was called to Moore Lane just after eight o'clock. Fire officials say they weren't as concerned about saving the house as they were the woods around it. They did eventually put out the fire, but it flared up again. No one was inside the home at the time.
