Fire crews battled a wildfire in Pamlico County that has already scorched more than 325 acres.
The fire is located in Lowland. That's north of Hobucken, and near the Pamlico River where it meets up with the Pamlico Sound.
The fire is still raging and four fire departments along with the Forestry Service all tried to put out the blaze, but couldn't get a handle on it Sunday night. Fire officials say it has decreased in intensity, but they will be out in force again Monday morning. They tried both airplanes and helicopters, but the fire still rages on. Mother Nature didn't help the firemen any either. Winds kept changing causing the fire to move into different areas, and threaten homes.
Officials say they suspect the fire started because of arson.
