Plymouth Expects Improvement

Plymouth High School in Washington County is among the 19 schools that could close if this year's end-of-grade test scores don't improve. Superior Court Judge Howard Manning issued a letter saying low performing schools need to improve or face the possibility of not opening in the fall. Plymouth High School principal Gloria McCray says even though Plymouth High School has improved overall through the years, the news of potential closure gives the staff and students a sense of urgency that something must be done. McCray feels the school will reach the 55-percent end-of-grade requirement, but says she can't do it alone.
