Still Recovering From Ophelia

Nearly six months after Hurricane Ophelia struck the Crystal Coast, some residents are still displaced.

Now, two faith-based organizations, the Interfaith Disaster Response Council of Carteret County and Carteret County People in Mission, have teamed up to rebuild an elderly woman's house.

Cornelia Murray, 68 years old, says she had no insurance and didn't qualify for federal assistance.

It's expected to take six months to rebuild Cornelia's house. The two groups involved can always use volunteers and donations.

To contact People in Mission you can call the Reverend Sally White at 252-240-2283.

To contact Interfaith Disaster Recovery Council of Carteret County contact Lisa Dyer at 252-393-2803, or Linda Chadwick at 252-728-1730.
