If you're travelling on the Outer Banks, expect some delays. Repairs finally began Monday on the Herbert C. Bonner bridge spanning Oregon Inlet. Motorists can expect one lane closed on the aging bridge each day, Monday through Thursday, until May 15Th, when work will stop to allow for summer traffic. Workers are filling in cracks and beefing up the girders that actually support the road deck. Those working on the bridge say the repairs will become fairly routine until the bridge is someday replaced.
