It was a sad and startling discovery at one of Goldsboro's waste water sub stations Thursday morning. Authorities say an employee there discovered the body of a newborn. Investigator Chad Calloway with the Goldsboro Police Department says the baby still had its umbilical cord attached. Calloway says it’s unlikely, but possible the infant could have been dropped off at the site. Investigators are in touch with local hospitals in the surrounding area just in case a female comes in seeking medical attention after a birth. The infant's body was sent to Chapel Hill for an autopsy.
