Monday marked the end of a 26-year career for an Eastern Carolina district attorney. David McFadyen stepped down as D.A. for Craven, Pamlico, and Carteret counties. Former state senator Scott Thomas was sworn in to take his place. At least 300 people attended the ceremony. Thomas was appointed to this position by the governor and plans to run for the office in November.
