Greenville Chase Ends In Police Shooting

What started out as an attempt to serve involuntary commitment orders on a Greenville resident ended in a police chase and shooting. Greenville Police say officers were attempting to serve the papers on 34-year old Kerry Turner early Thursday morning at 1201 Crestwood Drive. Officers believed Turner barricaded himself inside with a weapon. Before they and the Emergency Response Team entered the home, they say turner took off. During the chase, police say Turner rammed several Greenville Police vehicles and others along the way. Police then fired their weapons at Turner on Greenville Boulevard near 14th Street. Turner was taken to Pitt County Memorial Hospital. The officers who shot at him are on administrative leave with pay. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is looking into the incident.
