Old Factory, New Museum Center

It used to house workers, but now a Rocky Mount tobacco factory that closed over 30 years ago has been converted into the city's new cultural center. The Imperial Centre For the Arts and Sciences opened Saturday in downtown Rocky Mount. The 130,000 square foot facility will feature events the entire family can enjoy, such as a children's museum, art galleries and an animal habitat area. The city's old children's museum and former arts center were flooded in 1999 after Hurricane Floyd.
