Protected Fish Killed

They're a protected species. Now , some recreational fisherman are questioning the practices of a commercial fishing crew, netting Striped Bass, that led to a big Red Drum kill on Tuesday. Eyewitnesses say well over 100 mature Red Drumfish washed ashore Tuesday afternoon, when some commercial fishermen lost control of their "Seen" or gillnet. The North Carolina Marine Patrol reports only fifteen. Nonetheless, local anglers are outraged that net fishermen would be working the area north of Cape Point on the Outer Banks for rockfish, when warm waters have kept Red Drumfish hanging around. The whole incident is being ruled an accident.
