Every year, six million children die from malnutrition before their sixth birthday. This was just one the facts surrounding poverty across the globe that was brought to light at a poverty forum in Greenville Thursday night.
The League of Women Voters of Pitt County co-sponsored the forum, one of hundreds being held across the globe. It's an event that is organized by the United Nation.
A panel of experts discussed possible solutions for poverty on a global level and also about the impoverished conditions in parts of Eastern Carolina.
The annual international forums are part of an effort called "The People Speak."
