A firefighter shot, children held hostage, and a building on fire; thankfully it's not real, but a full scale exercise put on by the state fire marshal at the Senator Bob Martin Agricultural Center.
The drill, part of a week-long class, teaches first responders from Martin, Hyde, Washington and Tyrell Counties how to respond to certain disasters and emergencies, with tabletop models, computer simulations, and realistic incidents.
The course was sponsored by the North Carolina Department of Insurance office of the State Fire Marshal.
