A Pitt County bus driver who ran over a South Central High School student last month has been suspended without pay. Lynwood Best is the driver. A three week investigation by the school system wrapped up last week according to Heather Mayo with Pitt County Schools. Mayo says Best was finishing his morning bus route on October 10, when the back tire of his bus ran over high school sophomore Jasmine Best, no relation. She spent about a week in the hospital and was released in fair condition. Mayo says Lynwood Best has appealed the suspension.
