Shooting Puts College On Lockdown

The Boca Raton campus of Florida Atlantic University is on lockdown as police search for a gunman.

The university's website says a person fired a gun at a student apartment building early Wednesday morning. The website says one person who does not attend the school was injured, but the injuries are not life-threatening.

Police believe the incident is isolated. They are searching for the gunman.

I have seen the phrase, "the incident is isolated" used a few times when it comes to these college shootings. What exactly does that mean? Here in the past few years, college shootings seem to increase more and more mainly it seems throughout the eastern half of the United States. "Isolated" wouldn't exactly be a good choice of word to use in my opinion. Someone educate me on this please!
