Its usually signals the end of a pirate's life, but this time walking the plank was the beginning for hundreds of new pirates Saturday.
East Carolina University's 2nd Annual "Walk the Plank" Party was a big hit according to those there. Officials say hundreds attended the welcoming bash, even more than its inaugural time around last year. The event gathers incoming freshman, plays ECU fight songs and chants, and just lets the students get to know each other, and it starts that feeling of pride in the purple and gold.
After some singing and chanting, the students were treated to a party complete with DJ and tunes, on the green near Joyner Library.
