A business owner bleeding from the head; that's what Farmville police responding to an alarm at a pawnshop found Thursday. The owner of J &D Pawn, James Stocks, had been struck on the head several times causing skull and head injuries. He was transported to Pitt County Memorial Hospital and at last report was listed in critical condition. The assault is believed to have taken place between 10:30 and 11 a.m. Thursday morning.
