A piece of maritime history is docked in one of the most historic locations in the state...the town of Bath in Beaufort County.
The Maritime Heritage Days are part of the tricentennial celebrations of the oldest incorporated town in the state. The 16th century replica of the Elizabeth II vessel came into Bath this week from its port at Roanoke Island Festival Park in Manteo.
Visitors will be able to participate in activities honoring the history of maritime in the East. Along with the Elizabeth II, other replica vessels will be at port in Bath as well. The event runs through Sunday. There are parades, fossil digs, treasure hunts and everything maritime throughout the weekend.
On Sunday afternoon, Dave Jordan will be in Bath emceeing the blessing of the fleet ceremony beginning at four o'clock.
